"Just a Kiss" is a song recorded by American country music group Lady Antebellum. The song was written by the band members Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood in collaboration with Dallas Davidson, and was produced by Paul Worley. It was released byCapitol Records on May 2, 2011 as the lead single from the group's upcoming third studio album. "Just a Kiss" was one of the last songs recorded for the album and was inspired by Scott's love relationship. Musically, the song is a slow tempo country ballad whose lyrics speak of a love relationship between two newly-formed couples. At the 53rd Grammy Awards, held in February 2011, Lady Antebellum's single "Need You Now" won the awards for the Song of the Year and Record of the Year. In a backstage interview after the award ceremony, when asked about the next project, band members Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood said that they were almost done with the third album. "We've got a lot of work to do. It did put a little extra pressure [on us] in a good way—this is our moment to really make this thing and make a good record," they said. In a blog entry on their official website, the group said that "Just a Kiss" was one of the last songs written for the album. "We were about six songs into recording and someone had this idea, so we sat down to write it." The three band members wrote it with Dallas Davidson. In an interview with the Country music blog Taste of Country, Davidson discussed the conception of the song: "I went out on the road with them, and we wrote a couple of things. We recorded one song called 'We Own the Night'. Charles called me as they were about done with the record. He said, 'Man, we want to write again.' So the band came over [to my office] one morning. We started writing this other song. We were trying to find Hillary a little uptempo girl song. We wrote this cool thing." (source: wikipedia)
