"Only Girl" was performed for the first time in North America on Saturday Night Live. Rihanna provided the soundtrack for the Hallowe'en episode of Saturday Night Live where she performed "What’s My Name?" and "Only Girl (In the World)".The following day, over in the United Kingdom, Rihanna performed the song on the X-Factor. She has also performed the song at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2010 held in Madrid, Spain, X Factor in Italy and on Le Grand Journal in France on November 10, 2010.
Rihanna performed a mix of the song together with "Love the Way You Lie (Part II)" and "What's My Name?" on the American Music Awards of 2010. Rihanna opened the performance singing an a cappella version of "Love The Way You Lie Part II". She was seen sitting on a stylized tree hovering above a field of sable-colored blades of grass. Once she finished the first frame of the song she plummeted from the tree to the ground. She reemerged from the fog revealing a changed costume now consisting of a black-and-white bra top and shorts and singing "What's My Name". The performance featured an accompaniment of background dancers. What's My Name?" is a song performed by Rihanna that features Drake. It was written by Stargate, Ester Dean, Tracy Hale and Drake, and produced by Stargate. It's a single from Rihanna's album Loud. The song premiered on October 15, 2010. It officially impacted US mainstream radio on October 26, 2010. It was released in some European countries on October 29, 2010 and later in the US on November 1. It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Rihanna her eighth number-one hit on the chart.

Tor Hermansen, part of the songwriting and production duo StarGate who worked on the song, said Rihanna had originally played the song to Drake "backstage somewhere to try to get him on a verse". In the interview with Billboard magazine it was also revealed that Rihanna has wanted to work with Drake for a long time but specifically wanted "Drake's signature swagger" for "What's My Name?" She said "Drake is the hottest rapper out right now and we've always been trying to work together. He's the only person I thought could really understand the melody of the song, and the minute he heard it he said, 'I know exactly what I'm going to do. I love it.' And he did it like three days later."
The song has received generally positive reviews from critics.

Jocelyn Vena of MTV described the song as "sassy" and "all about sex and love", complimenting both Drake's verse and the chorus.
Bill Lamb from About.com gave the song a positive review, saying that "it does seem like another effortless hit on Rihanna's hands. This one glides along as perfect romantic ear candy".
Molly Lambert of Pitchfork Media praised Rihanna's performance saying that "On "What's My Name", Rihanna doesn't have to tell us how desirable she is-- it is a given. There is never any doubt in her delivery that Rihanna really might as well be the only girl in the world"
